This book contains thirteen papers I have written in recent years. The study of Lu Xun has a history of a hundred years, and there are countless commentators and numerous writings. However, when it comes to evaluating Lu Xun, everyone has different views on benevolence and wisdom, and everyone has different opinions. A wise man writes a great work early, but the author has little talent and little knowledge, and can only recognize the small details. The collection of essays is compiled with a difficult proposition. Lu Xun received many titles during his lifetime, including writer, revolutionist, thinker, warrior, flag-bearer, saint, national soul, etc. If you put one of them in the title of a book, it is enough to shock your eyes and ears.

This book uses the residence of Lu Xun and Zhou Zuoren in Beijing - No. 11 Badaowan, Xicheng District, Beijing - as a spatial clue and a time span of nearly a century. It integrates the private life trajectories of the Zhou brothers with major events in Chinese culture, society, and political changes, involving the Zhou brothers' family relationships, family, children, social relationships, and social activities. This is not only a common private matter that every ordinary family will encounter, but also a real history full of drama and pathos. It is a microcosm of the Zhou brothers' family, emotions, society and the integration of the great era spanning decades and three generations.

This book is a comprehensive study of the fateful interaction between the three brothers Lu Xun, Zhou Zuoren, and Zhou Jianren and Badaowan No. 11. The author describes in detail the overall layout of the courtyard, the distribution of houses and the living conditions of the three brothers. The living environment and living conditions here have had a great impact on the creation and thinking of the Zhou brothers. Lu Xun created his masterpiece "The True Story of Ah Q" here, which won Lu Xun international reputation; Zhou Zuoren became an important theorist of the May Fourth Literary Revolution here and gained the reputation of a master of short essays; the three brothers ran a literary cooperative here and lived a happy life as brothers. Not only that, many cultural celebrities during the May Fourth period, such as Cai Yuanpei, Chen Duxiu, Hu Shi, Qian Xuantong, Liu Bannong, Shen Yanbing, etc., All had more or less interactions with the owners of Badaowan and influenced the course of Chinese history and culture.
