"Nation" has been the core category of Chinese Marxist literary criticism in the past century. The national stance, standards and concepts held by Chinese Marxist literary criticism constitute an important feature that distinguishes it from other different forms of Marxist literary criticism such as classics, Russians, Soviets, and the West. This book combs and summarizes the formation, evolution and specific connotation of the national view of Marxist literary criticism in China over the past century, and proposes that an open national view of Marxist literary criticism in contemporary China should be expanded and constructed under the new historical conditions of globalization.
