Li Jichuan
History李绩传
Hero Jin Yuefeng
Brief introduction to the main character in the Romance of Li Ji, a Famous Marshal in the Early Tang Dynasty. Li Ji (594-669), whose surname was Xu, was given the name Shiji and the courtesy name was Maogong. Because of his outstanding military exploits, he was given the royal surname Li by Li Yuan and his name was Li Shiji. After Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty came to the throne, he used his name to violate Taizong Li Shimin's name taboo, so he removed the word "Shi" and called him simply Li Ji. Li Ji experienced the three dynasties of Tang Gaozu, Tang Taizong and Tang Gaozong throughout his life, and won the trust and responsibility of the imperial court. Following Li Shimin, Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, he pacified the four directions, attacked Xue Yantuo twice, and pacified Qibei. Later, he defeated Goguryeo and became one of the three famous commanders in the early Tang Dynasty {the other two are: Li Jing (571-649) and Tang Taizong Li Shimin (598-649)}.
