The vast majority of research on Chinese postcolonial criticism is conducted from an oppositional and critical standpoint, but these standpoints themselves are rarely reflected on and relativized. This book combines the specific events and issues of China's post-colonial criticism to comb through the representative figures and their opinions from various parties in the debate, and explores the issues of nationalism, duality, political economy and intellectual ethics that opponents accuse of China's post-colonial criticism. This book uses the issue of "modernity" as the red thread running through a series of topics in this book. In its research, it strives to transcend the binary model of "China/West, tradition/modernity" in the history of modern Chinese thought, and has made great progress in the research methods and depth of China's post-colonial issues.
