The theme of this book is "The Search for Mysterious Sound", which is mainly dedicated to finding the hidden hometown of the spirit in the deep places of history, the world, and life. The subtitle is "Research on Xuanyan Poems of the Wei and Jin Dynasties". The "word" of Xuanyan poems is modified with "Xuan", implying that the language of Xuanyan poems is not ordinary speech, but "Tao Yan" which is closest to "Tao". When we study metaphysical poetry, we need to look for the spiritual homeland they once clung to from the specific deeds of "poets" who are familiar or unfamiliar to us in history.

The southern tradition of modern new poetry was born along with the great changes that have not happened in Chinese civilization for three thousand years. It developed in the turbulence of Chinese and Western cultures and the fission between classical and modern. Although it originated from the geographical space of the Pearl River Delta in southern China, it eventually diffused and became a new spirit and new artistic characteristics of Chinese literature and poetry. This is southern poetry, southern poetics, southern spirit, southern imagination, and southern tradition. This book focuses on such a noteworthy southern spiritual and artistic genealogy of modern new poetry. The book mainly includes four parts: the theoretical foundation of southern poetics, the diverse landscape of the southern poet community, the case analysis of southern poets, and the artistic origins of southern poets. This is also a monograph on contemporary poetry criticism that clearly puts forward relevant propositions of southern poetics and conducts special research.
