At 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 12, 2006, I completed the boarding and security check procedures for my flight from Beijing to Greece and started waiting to board the plane. In Beijing in September, the autumn air is crisp and the atmosphere is peaceful. For this Nordic inspection, we started to go through various procedures in the spring of 2005. Due to the difficulty in getting the visa, after many twists and turns, the itinerary was not finalized until September 6, 2006. After arranging the work at hand, I took a car from Taiyuan at 2:00 pm on September 11th and went to Beijing via the Taiyuan-Shijiazhuang Expressway. There were frequent traffic jams along the way due to road construction. Under normal circumstances, the journey only took 5 hours. It took a full 7 and a half hours of walking. It was not until 9:30 pm that I arrived at the Quintiles Hotel where I was staying.
