This is a reportage. The whole book is divided into five chapters and seven parts, namely "Words Written in the Front", "Iron-Blooded Heroes", "Standing on the Mind", "Such a Village Party Secretary", "Dance of Life", "Examples for Humanity" and "Postscript". The book tells the story of Zhu Yanfu, who fought bloody battles in the Korean battlefield, developed his ability to take care of himself, and then served as secretary of the village party branch, overcoming all the inconveniences caused by his disabled body, and leading the masses to change the face of poverty in his hometown despite being slandered by all kinds of rumors. After many hardships, Zhu Yanfu learned to read and write, and wrote an autobiographical novel "Extreme Life" with hundreds of thousands of words.
