Mai Miao, a young rural girl who was only two points short of passing the college entrance examination system that had just been restored, was hired as a private teacher by the village committee and village primary school. After experiencing various hardships, Mai Miao became the female village head and led the whole village to boldly introduce new varieties of peanuts, and the peanut yield per mu more than doubled in history. During the spring election the following year, she was again elected village chief by the villagers.
