Manchu Novels and Chinese Culture
Literature满族小说与中华文化
Guan Jixin
This book considers the overall achievements of Manchu novel creation in connection with the changes in national culture in Manchu history, and explores it in connection with the fact that the Manchus once generally accepted the Han culture in the Central Plains while paying attention to maintaining their own aesthetic characteristics. It is the first time in academic history to completely sort out the overall achievements of Manchu novels. This book aims to show the "similarities" and "differences" between Manchu novels and Han novels; it not only identifies the important influence of Han culture on Manchu novel creation, but also clearly sees the aesthetic differences between Manchu novel creation and Han culture in the Central Plains, thereby explaining the multiple values that Manchu novel creation gives back to Chinese culture.
