"East Asia", just like "Asia", is a concept constructed from the outside. The word closest to the concept of "East Asia" in ancient China is "Haidong". As a giant political entity, the Tang Dynasty's rich cultural exchanges and diverse and complex political relationships with the surrounding world constituted half of global history. The East Asian countries located in the far east are backed by the largest ocean on earth. Their main or even only face is the Tang Dynasty. This constitutes the relationship between the Tang Dynasty and East Asia.

The ancient country of Baekje during the Han and Tang Dynasties had a long history and splendid civilization, and had established extensive and diverse connections with the surrounding world. The study of Baekje is of great significance to the study of Han and Tang history, Asian history, especially the history of Sino-foreign relations. This book is the first work on the history of Baekje in the Chinese literary world. The content mainly includes: a summary of Baekje historical events, that is, the basic historical facts and outline of Baekje; a summary of Baekje historical materials, that is, an introduction to Baekje-related classics, epigraphic documents, and archaeological materials; and a summary of the history of Baekje, which reviews the research results of scholars from China, Japan, and South Korea by country.
