American Pursuit of Love
General Fiction美国追欢
Fei Hailing
"American Love" is a complete Chinese travel novel across the United States. It tells the story of a group of college classmates who gathered in Paris decades after graduation and then traveled across the United States a year later. They drove wildly and willfully along the way, experiencing the geography, culture and customs of the United States along the way, and indulged in music and dance, from San Francisco, a coastal city in the west of the United States, to Los Angeles, via Las Vegas, and caroused all the way. Afterwards, they ventured to Yellowstone Park to experience the passion in the ice and snow. The self-driving continued, heading east in search of greater excitement. After arriving in New York, the eastern city of the United States, amidst the drastic changes in their lives, they gathered at Duke University to find their respective destinations and experienced the great American college basketball competition. The story ends on a yacht in the Gulf of Mexico at the southernmost tip of the United States. "American Love" describes the basic attitude of some Chinese "elites" towards family, friendship and love. It reflects some people's willful pursuit of material and their confusion about faith, morality, and value choices in the prosperous times.
