A social ethics novel. The peasant girl Anemone was born in Qijiawan, a backward rural area. She was raped by the village official Qi Jun and soon became pregnant. Anemone's father saw that his daughter's belly was getting bigger day by day, so he hurriedly found a son-in-law for her. This marriage was not what Anlian wanted from the beginning. Her husband then went out to work with his father, and she became a left-behind woman.
