This book is compiled and selected by the Science Fiction Research Community of the School of Liberal Arts of Beijing Normal University. It selects more than ten excellent annual science fiction novels from fantasy literature publications such as "Science Fiction World", "Kyushu Fantasy", and "Science Fiction King". Together with the author's creative remarks and the editor's wonderful comments, this book outlines the overall style of Chinese science fiction literature in 2008 from a unique perspective, and provides a comprehensive review of the development of Chinese science fiction literature in 2008.

"History of Chinese Science Fiction in the 20th Century" is the final monograph of the National Social Science Fund key project "History of Chinese Science Fiction in the 20th Century". Chinese science fiction has experienced ups and downs in the 20th century, a historical process of origin, evolution, transformation and finally maturity. During this period, literary genres grew from scratch, the team of writers grew from small to large, works from scarce to inexhaustible, and social influence underwent complex changes. "History of Chinese Science Fiction in the 20th Century" sorts out five periods in the history of Chinese science fiction in the 20th century - the development of science fiction in the late Qing Dynasty, the development of science fiction in the Republic of China, the development of science fiction in the early Republic of China, the development of science fiction in the new era, and the development of science fiction at the turn of the century. It introduces the creative background, basic features and representative works of writers in each period, and more comprehensively reflects the development process of Chinese science fiction and the works of important writers and creative genres in the 20th century.
