This is the first domestic monograph on the historiography of Chinese ethnic minorities. This is a topic proposed by Mr. Bai Shouyi in 1984. In 2005, it was listed as a major project of the Beijing Normal University Historiography Theory and Historiography Research Center as a key research base for the humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education. It was completed in 2016 and passed the review of the Ministry of Education.
