After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Tianjin crosstalk has developed rapidly, one of which is the large number of famous crosstalkers. Dozens of famous artists, such as Zhang Shouchen, Chang Lian'an, Guo Rongqi, Ma Sanli, and later Liu Wenheng and Gao Yingpei, took the lead in performing in various district folk art troupes. Tianjin is not only famous for actors, but also famous for jokes. For example, "Civilization Ci" written by Gao Yufeng and Xie Ruizhi (later renamed "Xijiang Moon"), "Guan Gong Battles Qin Qiong" written by Zhang Jieyao, "Exaggeration", "Geographical Map", "Smart Matchmaker" and "Thieves Talk" written by Zhang Shouchen... There are too many traditional jokes from Tianjin, and they are all long-lasting jokes. Moreover, there are many teahouses specializing in cross talk performances, distributed in various districts. Even during the "Cultural Revolution", Tianjin still presented the cross talk "Digging for Treasures" co-written by Wang Peiyuan and Chang Baoting to the whole country. Of course, it did not escape the fate of all cross talk teahouses being closed at that time.
