Monotonous sameness is the old enemy of literature. The editors have extracted the essence from a large number of essays and divided them into six series: "Collecting Memories", "Waiting for a Bowl of Nostalgia", "Our World is in Its Eyes", "Farewell to Ignorance and Boring", "Experience at the Deepest Level" and "Looking Back in the Bloodline". The articles mostly look back at history that should not be buried in the dust but seem to have been forgotten, and there are also many personal writings. "Reminiscences" includes reviews of history and past events by famous literary figures, such as "Ah Q catches lice, "Forget it! Forget it!" And "I am not a passerby, I am a returnee." "Waiting for a Bowl of Nostalgia", as the name suggests, is a collection of deep homesickness. "Our World in Its Eyes" is mostly an article about scenery, recording the joy or sorrow found in daily life. "Farewell to Wisdom and Boredom" is a collection of articles about the past. The articles of talented scholars and knowledgeable writers are mixed. Guo Jingming's name appears in this anthology for the first time. "Looking Back in the Bloodline" is also a review of the past. Zhang Yihe's "The Water is Deep and the Water is Shallow, the East and West Streams, the Clouds Are Flying and the Mountains Are Far and Near" is quite eye-catching. The selection is well-written and the anthology reflects the creative achievements of the 2014 essays.
