1953 was the opening year of the first "Five-Year Plan" of the People's Republic of China. Based on 156 large-scale projects assisted by the Soviet Union, New China's industrialization began a magnificent historical curtain. Luoyang Jianxi District has become one of the key large-scale industrial bases built in New China, with seven key projects including Luoyang Mining Machinery Factory located here. For a time, tens of thousands of engineering and technical personnel, cadres and workers from Shanghai, Northeast China, Beijing, Guangdong, Henan and all over the country rushed to Jianxi without hesitation to participate in the steaming socialist construction. This nearly 70-year oral history narrated by 24 people from Luoyang Mining Machinery not only presents the magnificent transformation from Luoyang Mining Machinery Factory to CITIC Heavy Industry, but also tells the narrative of the formation of the labor tradition of the New China working class represented by Jiao Yulu.
