In the country of Bia, a certain college girl Sarah had a crush on her teacher, Professor Hoch, but eventually gave up because of the age gap and secular prejudice. Sarah instead introduced her widowed mother, Mary, to Hotch. Hodge bumps into the powerful at an election rally and is hunted by the authorities, but fortunately protected by mysterious military figures. During this period, Hodge and Mary became husband and wife and experienced a life of near-death and hardship. A year later, the military launched a coup to overthrow the original government and install Hodge in power. Hodge succeeded in governing and was supported by the people. However, Sarah broke with the military because she exposed corruption in the military. Sarah was executed, and Hodge fled to the mountains to continue the struggle.
