This book takes "quantitative expression" in Chinese as a starting point, and uses it as a starting point to trace the various semantic sources of quantitative expression, focusing on exploring which semantic categories can have semantic derivative relationships with quantitative categories, emphasizing the acquisition of quantitative meaning; it also lays out the evolution direction of quantitative expression, focusing on revealing the further evolution rules of quantitative expression in Chinese and the entire human language, emphasizing the further development of quantitative meaning. This book attempts to systematically examine and construct the historical semantic system of Chinese quantitative expressions from two aspects: origin and evolution, and deeply explore the motivations and mechanisms that restrict its development and evolution.
