"Shen'er Valley Storm" Summary: In 1370, 100,000 Ming troops and more than 100,000 Mongolian cavalry faced off in Shen'eryu, Gansu. In 1368, the Ming army captured Dadu, Emperor Yuan Shun fled north, and Wang Baobao reunited his army in Gansu. Previously, Zhu Yuanzhang formulated a strategy. The Ming army would first capture Shandong and Henan, and then attack Dadu. Wang Baobao failed to counterattack and fled to Gansu with 18 cavalry. Later Wang Baobao captured Lanzhou and wiped out the Ming Dynasty reinforcements. The Ming court decided to fight on two fronts, and Xu Da led his troops to attack Wang Baobao. During the confrontation at Shen'eryu, Wang Baobao sent troops to attack the southeastern base of the Ming army, and the Ming army stabilized its position. Xu Da used sounds from the east to attack the west, made noise to disturb the enemy at night, and launched political offensives. On the third day, the Ming army attacked. The Yuan army was defeated due to lack of rest and unstable military morale. Wang Baobao escaped with only his wife, children and close associates. In this battle, tens of thousands of Mongolians died and many were captured. The Battle of Shen'eryu destroyed the main force of the Northern Yuan army. After that, Li Wenzhong conquered Emperor Shun of the Yuan Dynasty, and the Northern Yuan Dynasty could no longer pose a fatal threat to the Ming Dynasty.
