Crossing West
Since the resumption of the college entrance examination in 1977, the Chinese Department of Peking University has been a nest for poets. Here, poets do not appear one by one, but in groups. For more than thirty years, this chain of poetry has never been broken. In 1998, the 100th anniversary of Peking University, Zang Di and I co-edited the "Selected Poems of Peking University", which included 78 poets from Peking University from 1977 to 1996, including 51 poets from the Chinese Department, who were of course the main force. In the following ten years or so, this team of poets has grown considerably. Some of these poets left their alma mater after graduating with undergraduate degrees, some studied for master's or doctorate degrees until the end of their degrees, and a few lucky ones are still teaching in the Chinese Department or other departments of Peking University. Regardless of the former or the latter, the experience of studying in the Chinese Department is a colorful movement in his life, and it is also an extraordinary beginning of his ordinary or legendary life.
