The Eight Great Masters of Tang and Song Dynasties are the collective name for the eight major prose writers in the Tang and Song Dynasties, namely Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan in the Tang Dynasty and Ouyang Xiu, Su Xun, Zeng Gong, Wang Anshi, Su Shi and Su Che in the Song Dynasty. In the early Ming Dynasty, Zhu You first compiled and selected the prose works of these eight writers and published the "Collected Works of Eight Masters". Later Tang Shunzhi also selected the works of these eight writers in his book "Wen Bian". Mao Kun, an ancient writer in the middle of the Ming Dynasty, organized and compiled it on the basis of his predecessors, and named it "Eight Masters of Tang and Song Dynasty Wenchao", with a total of 160 volumes. From then on, the "Eight Great Masters of Tang and Song Dynasties" got their name. This book not only highlights the achievements of the eight masters in prose writing, but also pays tribute to Han Yu
