The nostalgic poems from past dynasties selected in this book can be roughly divided into three categories. The category is to praise historical figures or historical events, such as praising Jing Ke, Xiang Yu, Yue Fei and other senior heroes, and inspiring future generations to follow them as role models. The second category is criticism of history, such as satirizing Qin Shi Huang, emperors of the Southern Dynasties, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, emperors and ministers of the Southern Song Dynasty, etc., And warning future generations not to repeat the mistakes of the previous generations' defeat. The third category is sympathy for history, that is, they do not make clear judgments of praise or blame, but only mourn the passage of time from the perspective of changes in time and space, and the changes in things and people.
