This collection of lectures contains some records of lectures given by classical literature experts from the Institute of Literature to leading comrades of the central government from 2007 to 2012. From the pre-Qin "Book of Songs" and "Chu Ci" to modern literature, the topics are very wide. This manuscript enables us to better understand the traditional value and contemporary significance of classical literature.

In 2013, General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed the "Belt and Road" major initiative. The Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences tried to use this major initiative to promote the study of Silk Road culture and participate in the cultural construction of contemporary China through specific research. Therefore, on August 20, 2015, a seminar on "Silk Road and Chinese Literature" was held in Yiwu County, Hami City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The papers included in this collection of papers were selected from more than 30 papers submitted by participants. These papers cover many aspects such as literature, history, religion, music, art, exploration, cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, etc., Showing the richness of Silk Road culture.

This book aims to reflect the overseas vision presented by researchers at the Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in literary research in recent years and the new look of research after overseas visits and interactions. It includes both theoretical exploration and textual thinking; it includes cross-cultural dialogue and introspection and realization after reflection. The book collects the results of the Institute of Literature's external academic exchanges in the past five years, including reports on scholars' visits, academic discussion papers, and outstanding papers from international academic conferences hosted by the Institute of Literature over the years. It also includes excellent papers by foreign scholars who have visited and studied at the Institute of Literature in the past five years, reflecting some features of overseas Chinese literature research.
