More than 300 years ago, these "magical animals" that Europeans had witnessed during the Age of Discovery were introduced to China through a Chinese version of the world map drawn by missionaries in the Ming Dynasty - "The Complete Map of Kunyu". All these strange beasts of the sea and land were included in the "Collection of Ancient and Modern Books", but they were lost in history, rarely known, and became a lost treasure in the ocean. Retracing their origins in Europe and tracking their whereabouts in China, historical scholars on both sides of the Taiwan Strait have worked together to explore ancient and modern Chinese and foreign history, geography, literature, art documents, and European classic \u002F niche natural history works to reveal to us one by one the "true" faces of these mysterious ancient sea and land creatures.
