This book consists of nine novellas (all published in large literary journals), using the offense against normal existence as a clue to form a loosely connected novel with a clear spiritual direction. With a sharp pen, the author offends our normal world and tortures the heaviness of the body, the pain of the soul, and the truth of existence. The nine stories rather open up the nine levels of hell. The author is like Dante, leading the readers in, and going deeper step by step. Each layer becomes more unbearable and more terrifying, but each layer is closer to the truth, and each layer is closer to the stairway to heaven.

"Fate" consists of five novellas, connected by a theme of "death and family love", trying to explore the bioethical issues between family relationships that are ubiquitous and often obscured in our lives. Some of them are about fathers and sons, some are about mothers and daughters, some are about parents and children, some are about people and pets, some are about natural death, and some are about abnormal death. They cover almost all aspects of family love, forming a relatively complete ethical genealogy.
