The North Canal is the natural river in the northernmost section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It was once an important canal channel in history. This book conducts an in-depth study of the management and changes of the North Canal during the water transportation period, discusses the management methods adopted by the Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties to ensure water transportation, sorts out the course changes of the North Canal, focuses on restoring the location of the North Canal during the Jin and Yuan Dynasties, and systematically analyzes the management methods and river course changes of the North Canal during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Finally, from a macro perspective, the spatial characteristics of the North Canal's river management and the era and evolution process of river management in the past dynasties were analyzed, and the relationship between river management and changes and canal water transportation was clarified.
