清末民初小说理论资料
Chen Pingyuan Xia Xiaohong
"Novel Theory Materials in the Late Qing Dynasty and the Early Republic of China" contains nearly 300 theoretical materials on novels from 1897 to 1916. The theory of novels in this period was both rich and poor. It was rich because it proposed many meaningful propositions, and it was poor because most of these new propositions were not well developed. However, these complex and superficial propositions contain infinite vitality. To some extent, they indicate the development direction of Chinese novels in the 20th century, and also indicate the difficulty of conceptual change. The editor took gold from the sand and selected a large number of historical materials, including essays, prefaces and postscripts, publication words, reviews, notes, advertisements, letters, and fragments and comments of individual works, to comprehensively and accurately reflect the overall picture of novel theory in this period.
