Prosperity and Loneliness: a Study on the Reception History of Liu Yong and Zhou Bangyan's Ci

Liu Yong and Zhou Bangyan are two milestone poets in the history of the development of Song Ci. Both of them were romantic talents who knew music and music well. Because of the rhythm, romance and graceful style of their lyrics, later generations often called them "Liu and Zhou" together, and they were regarded as a group of poets. However, there has always been a dispute between elegance and vulgarity in the development of Ci poetry, which caused later generations to divide them into two opposing styles: vulgarity and elegance. Therefore, their status among the feudal orthodox scholars was also very different. The similarities and differences between the two words deserve us to put them together and conduct in-depth discussion and research from the perspective of reader acceptance. This book draws on the theory of Western reception aesthetics, and uses the poetry of the past dynasties and the comments about Erren's Ci scattered in the notes of literati as the main materials to sort out and study the reception of Erren's Ci in the past dynasties.
