Professor Cang Xiuliang has made outstanding contributions to the history of Chinese historiography and local chronicles. His "History of Ancient Chinese Historiography" published by the People's Publishing House is a leading work in this field, and "General Theory of Local Chronicles" also represents the most outstanding treatise in this field. He is also included among the dozens of most important literary and historical scholars in modern times listed in "Xue Lin Chun Qiu" published by Zhonghua Book Company. In order to summarize his achievements in the history of historiography and local chronicles, with the theme of historical records, Professor Bao Yongjun, a young scholar from the Department of History of Zhejiang University, selected the most important papers of Mr. Cang's life, including the preface, history of Chinese historiography, local chronicles, genealogy, preface book reviews, academic chronology, etc.
