The novel mainly tells the story of how Jiang Xi and his wife, who have twins, met Wang Zhixing and his wife from the late 1990s to the beginning of the 21st century, and the story revolves around them and the people around them. Wang Zhixing and his wife had a child in their later years, but a serious illness and unclear surgery took away the child's life. When Zhang Xiuli was taking care of Jiang Xi's family, the relationship between the two families gradually became a family over time. Ma Jiaming, a young man who experienced the death of his father and the departure of his mother, accidentally became a part of this family. Happiness may be short-lived. Wang Zhixing became a vegetative state in an accident; when the two children were seven years old, their elder brother was abducted by a passing van and has not been heard from since. At the same time, Song Aya disappeared from the campus after his grandfather passed away. Following the appearance of lumberjack Jiang Hailin and Chen Bing and his wife from Xinjiang, the truth about the death of Wang Zhixing and his wife's son that year was revealed... Since then, Jiang Xi has been running around looking for his son's whereabouts; his younger brother lost the van because he couldn't remember the license plate number of that van, and he lived with himself for thirteen years... After his brother was taken away, he traveled to many places and met Wang Zhixing's grown-up children and the little boy he once was. What will they do, what situation will they face, and what will be the outcome...

This is a novel about an unfortunate child with a light in his eye. When they were young, they experienced setbacks and suffered hardships, but they were still grateful and always had good thoughts as they grew up. Not worldly, not compromising, not giving up. Fight against suffering and keep company with justice. Different children have different sufferings and have different experiences of fighting against suffering, but they will eventually become the kind of people who carry light and go out into the world together.
