Bao Zhao was a famous writer and poet in the Southern Song Dynasty. His poems had neat counterpoints and gorgeous diction, and were as refined as picturesque mountains and rivers. Later generations called him "Southern Zhao and Northern Letter" together with Northern Zhou poet Yu Xin. This book is a collection of the best works of Bao and Yu.

"Three Caos" refers to Cao Cao, his sons Cao Pi and Cao Zhi during the Three Kingdoms period in Chinese history. Due to their political status and remarkable achievements in literature, they had great influence on the literary world at that time, so they were collectively called the "Three Cao" by later generations; the three of them were also collectively known as the "Three Cao of Jian'an" or the "Three Cao and the Seven Sons of Jian'an" together with the "Seven Sons of Jian'an" at the same time. Han Yuefu hymns are poems collected by the Yuefu official office established by the rulers of the Han Dynasty, and their contents reflect the social life at that time. In addition to recording production and life, they also exposed the cruelty of the ruling class and the cruelty of war, and praised true love and friendship. These poems have simple language, catchy words, rich emotions, and strong narrative. They are an important part of the history of ancient Chinese poetry.
