Emperor Taizong sent Hou Junji, the Minister of War, as the general manager of Jiaohe Road to lead an army to attack. A few months later, Hou Junji defeated Gaochang, Qu Wentai died of illness, and his son Qu Zhisheng surrendered. When the Tang army was victorious, Hou Junji secretly plundered Gaochang's treasures, including a rare white dragon colt.
