"Empty Hope" is a novel with an autobiographical nature. The heroine, the orphan Andrea, narrates in the first person "I". Andrea came to Barcelona from the countryside to study and stayed at her grandmother's house. It coincided with the difficult economic period just after the Spanish Civil War. Life in my grandmother's family was very difficult, and hunger and poverty were always her loyal "partners." In addition to starvation, she also had loneliness. In this conflict-ridden and indifferent family, she had no relatives or friends with whom she could speak the truth. At school, due to the huge gap in social status between her and her friends, she could not get rid of her inferiority complex during the communication process. A year later, Andrea left Barcelona with helpless disappointment and good vision for the future.
