My Loneliness, My Self: the Era of the Single Woman

(us) Rebecca Traister

233K02

"My Loneliness, My Self: The Age of the Single Woman" is a documentary work about the issues of single women in the United States in the 21st century. The author Traister focuses on this group and selected the stories of about thirty women from nearly a hundred original interviews. Among them are strong women who dominate the workplace, a single mother who holds two part-time jobs, and a female college student who dares to love and hate. Although they have diverse skin colors, ethnicities, living environments, and educational backgrounds, these single women actively fight for their own rights (rights to vote, abortion rights), affecting all aspects of economic, cultural, and social life. Single women are gradually occupying a place in this world that was not designed for them. It is time to start a "single era".
