This book is a diary recorded by British Army Captain Hamilton Powell (born in 1858) during his "inspection" to Tibet from 1891 to 1892. Due to the author's special identity and mission, this diary is very valuable for studying the history of Sino-British relations and the security history of China's southwest frontier. It can also be said that this is a diary used to understand the old Tibet in the late Qing Dynasty before the Sino-Japanese War of 1895 from the perspective of "others".
