巴塞特郡纪事(一):巴彻斯特养老院(特罗洛普文集)
(uk) Anthony Trollope
Trollope, the most prolific and greatest novelist in the history of British literature, has the most read works in the UK. He is a writer as famous as Shakespeare and Dickens. He is the first person in literature in the Victorian era and the representative work of the outstanding British novelist Trollope. Based on the authoritative original version verified by Page and Sadlier, the original grid version of famous names has not been seen in the market for 35 years. It shows a panoramic view of the satirical ridicule of the British Parliament and Church, the Jupiter Newspaper and the Pre-Raphaelites in the Victorian era. The Reverend Harding was the cantor of the cathedral choir, and his eldest son-in-law was the dean of Barchester - a high-status ecclesiastical position, just below that of the bishop. His duties are to supervise the patriarchs of all parties, inspect church buildings in the diocese, be responsible for the repair of church properties, and assist the bishop in handling church affairs. A few months after the marriage of Reverend Harding's eldest daughter to Dr. Glenleigh, the cantor of the church, she became cantor of the cathedral choir. In 1434, Mr. Hiram, a wealthy wool merchant, donated his Hiram Glade and Hiram Fields to the church in his will to support twelve aging wool carders living in Barchester, and to build a nursing home for them to live in, with a suitable apartment attached for a dean, who would draw money from the income from the above land every year. Because this gentleman was very fond of sacred music, he wrote in his will that the cantor of the cathedral choir could concurrently serve as the director of the nursing home, and he only needed to obtain the approval of the bishop. What's wrong...

Chronicles of Barsetshire (part 2): Barchester Cathedral (collected Works of Trollope)
General Fiction巴塞特郡纪事(二):巴彻斯特大教堂(特罗洛普文集)

Trollope, the most prolific and greatest novelist in the history of British literature, has the most read works in the UK. He is a writer as famous as Shakespeare and Dickens. He is the first person in literature in the Victorian era and the representative work of the outstanding British novelist Trollope. It shows a panoramic view of the satirical ridicule of the British Parliament and Church, the Jupiter Newspaper and the Pre-Raphaelites in the Victorian era. Two years after the publication of "Barchester Nursing Home", its sequel "Barchester Cathedral" came out. In the last chapter of "The Nursing Home", the author tells us that the old bishop has reached the age of eighty and "probably will pass away slowly and peacefully like a spark extinguishing." In the first chapter of "The Cathedral," the bishop is bedridden and about to die. Everyone thought that his son, Dr. Glenleigh, the church official, had all the necessary qualifications and would probably succeed his father as bishop. But the bishops were appointed by Downing Street politicians at a time when the government was crumbling. If the old bishop dies before the government changes, then Dr. Glenray will obtain the position of bishop; if the old bishop dies for a long time and the government falls, then the opportunity of the chancellor to succeed the bishop is lost. The president loved his father very much, but he was also a power-hungry, arrogant man who wanted to be a bishop. At this time, he stayed by his father's bedside, hoping in his heart that his father would die soon. Then, he came to his senses and quickly knelt down and begged God to forgive him...

The Engagement of Scarborough (collected Works of Trollope)
General Fiction斯卡伯勒的婚约(特罗洛普文集)
(uk) Anthony Trollope
An excellent novel by Trollope exploring moral issues. It describes how a dying old squire, Mr. Scarborough, uses his marriage problems to play tricks and thoughtfully plays with the law of primogeniture, which is regarded as a matter of course by traditional concepts, in order to satisfy his rebellious psychology of contempt for the law. Scarborough is an old country squire who despises all laws that represent the will of the ruling class. Not only does he fundamentally deny the law, but he also extremely despises the reputation of honest people. Honesty, which is often referred to in the world, seems to him to be all pretense, and at best it is used to gain a good reputation through honesty. It took Scarborough thirty years to finally break away from the shackles of primogeniture, which was regarded as a matter of course by traditional concepts. He originally wanted Montjoy to inherit the property, but later Montjoy was addicted to gambling and was heavily in debt. He had a premonition that the family property was in danger of falling into the hands of creditors, so he declared Augustus as the legal heir. Unexpectedly, the second son was not a thing, and showed his viciousness towards his terminally ill father. Scarborough could not bear it and re-established Montjoy's status as the eldest son, which shattered Augustus's dream. Unfortunately, Meng Qiaoyi, who inherited the family property, immediately became a hopeless gambler. The family property, which embodies his life's hard work, will inevitably disappear in the blink of an eye. Throughout the novel, there is the love story of Florence and Harry, two lovers who finally get married. Scarborough thought wholeheartedly about Florence, preventing this angelic and lovely girl from being ruined by a libertine, and doing his best to make her happy marriage with Harry.
