Frederic F. Scheinle Jr. Was a 1939 graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received undergraduate and master's degrees in electrical engineering and joined ROTC. After graduation, he worked at the U. S. Naval Weapons Laboratory until he was drafted into the Army in 1942. Afterwards, he was stationed in India for a year, served as an officer in the engineering corps, and assisted the US military in training the Chinese Expeditionary Force. In 1945, he was sent to the Burma Highway and was responsible for the transportation of military supplies. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he went to Shanghai to undertake the logistics work of the US military. In 1946, he was honorably discharged with the rank of colonel. The color photos in the book were taken by Schianle using a Kodak 35 camera and Kodak color reversal film while he was in China, Myanmar and India. Li Song is an associate professor at the School of Liberal Arts at Wuhan University. Served as a visiting scholar at Harvard University. He has published more than 100 academic papers and more than ten monographs. Liu Ping is an associate professor at the School of Foreign Languages, South Central University for Nationalities. Served as a visiting researcher at Harvard University. He has published more than 20 academic papers and presided over a number of scientific research projects at the Ministry of Education and provincial levels.
