This book records the attempts of Mallory, a member of the British Everest expedition, to reach the summit in 1921, 1922 and 1924. When Mallory was last seen, he was climbing vigorously to the top of the mountain, and he did not return to the camp after that. Seventy-five years later, Mallory's body, as frozen as alabaster, was found on the towering slopes of Mount Everest. He had no camera or notes on him, and there was no evidence that he and his teammate Owen had set a record for the first ascent of the world's highest peak thirty years before New Zealand mountaineer Hillary and Sherpa guide Tenzing successfully reached the summit. The author examines the entire incident and writes the complete process of these mountaineering operations, leaving an impartial record of heroic achievements.
