"How Steel Was Tempered" is an excellent novel written by former Soviet writer Nikolai Ostrovsky based on his own personal experience. The path taken by the protagonist Paul Korchagin reflects the fearless spirit of the first generation of Soviet revolutionary youths who were not afraid of difficulties, struggled hard, and had the courage to win, and inspired generations of aspiring young people to realize their ideals. The two works have the same theme, but the former reflects the living conditions of a generation of young people for more than ten years, while the latter describes the struggle scenes of young people within three or four months, creating a glorious group portrait of revolutionary youth.
