"The Calculator" is a collection of novellas and science fiction novels by Alexander Gromov, the "Grand Slam" Russian science fiction writer. It includes "The Calculator", "The Eleventh Class Civil Service Officer" and "The Flying Monkey and the Stallion" which won the Best Short and Medium Story Award at the Russian Science Fiction Convention. "The Calculator" has been adapted into a movie of the same name. Gromov believes that his novels belong to "social science fiction". He is good at analyzing human nature and group psychology in extreme environments. His works have both forward-looking vision and realistic allegory.
