This book is based on the Cheng Yi edition, and the proofreading is based on the Zhiyanzhai edition and the Cheng edition. The most frequently reviewed editions are the Zhiyanzhai Jimao edition, the Gengchen edition, the Jiaxu edition, the Qianlong Manuscript of One Hundred and Twenty Chapters of a Dream of Red Mansions, the Leningrad Manuscript of the Stone, and the Cheng Jia and Wang Xuexiang editions. Some of the manuscripts have not been read, but are based on Yu Pingbo's "Eighty Chapters of a Dream of Red Mansions" and "Zhi Yanzhai's Re-Evaluation of the Story of Stone" published by Culture and Art Publishing House.
