322K01

"A Compendium of One Hundred Schools of Classics and History" is an intensive reading of classical Chinese compiled by Zeng Guofan for his younger brother Zeng Guoquan on the basis of "Miscellaneous Notes of One Hundred Schools of Classics and History". According to the subject matter, it is divided into eleven categories: treatises, poems, prefaces and postscripts, edicts, memorials, slips, memorials, biographies, narratives, annals, and miscellaneous notes, with a total of 48 selected articles. The selected texts cover classics such as "The Book of Changes" and "The Analects of Confucius", historical books such as "Historical Records" and "Hanshu", works by various scholars such as "Mencius" and "Zhuangzi", as well as famous ancient writers such as Han Yu, Liu Zongyuan, Ouyang Xiu, and Su Shi. Zeng Guofan also divided the selected text into chapters, summarized the meaning of paragraphs, and commented on the essence in the form of small print annotations. He also added circles to key paragraphs and sentences to help readers grasp the essence. This publication is based on the Chuanzhong Bookstore edition of "A Compendium of Classics and History of One Hundred Schools of Classics", retaining the original punctuation and annotations, and inviting relevant experts to interpret, annotate, and translate the entire book, striving to provide readers with a version with reliable text and accurate annotations.
