This book consists of four volumes: "Autumn", "Winter", "Spring" and "Summer". The author uses the changing of the four seasons as the background, uses a complete and harmonious structure, and solemn and poetic language to express the suffering life and heroic struggle history of Polish farmers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The novel has two interrelated main lines: one is the struggle between farmers and big landowners who are supported by the tsarist military and police, and the other is the family dispute of a big farmer. But it is the land that plays the main role, and everything is caused by the land. Therefore, "The Peasant" can be said to be an epic of land, an epic of how land dominated people's lives in the Polish countryside of that historical period and social system, causing a series of disputes, contradictions and struggles. The book "Farmer" not only vividly depicts various characters in the countryside, but also vividly describes rural folk customs, four seasons and beautiful scenery. The language of the novel is also full of life, and the long descriptive narrative language has the charm of beautiful prose poetry.
