(ming Dynasty) Zhou Ji

326K0

This book, also known as "West Lake Classical Chinese", is a collection of short stories (parallel scripts) written by Zhou Qingyuan in the Ming Dynasty. It was probably published during the Chongzhen period in the late Ming Dynasty. The book contains thirty-four novels, each of which is related to the West Lake in Hangzhou. Most of them are love stories of talented scholars and beauties related to the West Lake, but there are also some stories about resisting Japanese pirates and describing the humanities and customs of Hangzhou. The works extensively describe the social and political corruption of the late Ming Dynasty, the corruption of officials, the extreme decline of talents, the increasing poverty of the people, and even the folk customs of the time.
