This book is a youth vernacular adaptation of "Journey to the West" written by Wu Chengen in the Ming Dynasty. The original book has 100 chapters. It tells the story of Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, Sha Monk, and White Dragon Horse during the Zhenguan period of Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty. They protected Tang Monk on his journey to the west to obtain Buddhist scriptures. They went through many hardships along the way, subjugated demons along the way, turned dangers into safety, and finally reached the West and obtained the scriptures. The full text of the book is adapted, retaining the main clue of the original work, and on this basis, through compression, deletion, and the use of modern vernacular novel language, it is rewritten into 50 chapters to present the main characters and classic storyline. The book is equipped with illustrations of "Journey to the West" painted by people from the Qing Dynasty, making the book layout exquisite and more ornamental. In addition, in order to meet the readers' needs for barrier-free reading, the book has processed the content, researched the original texts, and annotated and phoneticized important and difficult words to ensure barrier-free reading for young readers.
