"Sou Shen Ji" is a collection of supernatural novels written by Qian Bao, a writer in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. The book now has 20 volumes, with a total of 454 stories, major and minor. It mainly compiles stories about ghosts, gods and immortals, as well as some trivia and folklore from the time. It is a collection of ancient Chinese myths and legends and represents the highest achievement of Chinese fantasy novels.

According to the "Wenxuanchao" record, three days after the death of Wuning County Magistrate Qian Qing, Wu Meng went to mourn him, but said that Qian Qingyang did not live to the end of his life and did not deserve to die. He wanted to argue for him to heaven. Wu Meng lay down next to Qian Qing's body, and a few days later, the two of them woke up together. When Qian Bao heard about this, he was moved and wrote "Sou Shen Ji".
