This book is a series of detective novels written by Kaitaro Hasegawa in the name of Hayashi. It tells the story of Tokichi, an ordinary government servant in the Edo period, who worked hard to solve various difficult and strange cases. The plot is interesting and the conception is rigorous. It has the unique reasoning characteristics of detective novels and is also full of Edo style. Lin Buhu, whose original name was Hasegawa Kaitaro (January 17, 1900 - June 29, 1935). Lin Buhu, Gu Rangci and Mu Yima are all his pen names. In 1918, he went to the United States to study, working and studying part-time, and returned to Japan in 1924. After that, he published many works including ghost stories, historical novels and detective novels under various pen names, and he can be called a prolific writer. When he died suddenly due to illness at the age of 35, there were still many works left unfinished, which was a pity.
