Ramayana and Mahabharata are two major epics in India. Like the two ancient Greek epics "The Odyssey" and "The Iliad", they both belong to the category of actor literature. Initially, they were literature sung by actors and were created in oral form. Over a long period of time, they were passed down orally from master to disciple. In the end, one person usually added, deleted, and polished the various "versions" of the epic that had been circulated, and it became the epic we see now.
