General Fiction

In fact, this apartment building is a small vertical city. There is a skyscraper that is isolated from the world. The poor live in the dark and cramped lower floors, the middle class live in the middle floors, and the rich live in the luxurious upper floors. They spend a brief and harmonious time with each other peacefully. However, this self-willed community structure, regarded by Darwinists as a reasonable community structure, was quickly destroyed due to various small conflicts and contradictions. As a result, production stagnated and supplies disappeared. The ending was tragic. People took off all the robes of civilization and turned into barbaric animals that "eat dogs and sometimes human flesh." The novel does not provide any way out for this community structure that divides people into low, middle and upper classes, but it depicts the fragility and instability of this structure. "Ryan looked at the skyscraper four hundred yards away. Just now, there was a temporary power outage, and all the lights on the 7th floor were darkened. In the darkness, there were already flashlight beams moving around. For the first time, the residents were confused and wanted to find out where they were. Ryan looked at them with satisfaction, ready to welcome them to their new world."
